June 17, 2021

As one of the earliest forms of traditional Chinese art, Chinese shadow puppetry combines different types of art such as painting, music, literature, and acting. Utilizing a source of light, a translucent screen, several wooden rods or sticks, and some cut-out figures to tell stories about all walks of life. Grade 2 native Chinese students made their puppet shadow theater and performed wonderful plays after learning two idiomatic stories. On June 15th, each class shared one of their best puppet shows which took two weeks for them to complete. The intricate figures and intriguing plots were fully seen and felt between the light and screen.
