Grade 9: Reflection on Course Day

March 24, 2020

In the CAS class on March 18th, students had a discussion on the Course Day activities and shared their views with each other. During these two weeks, each student has carefully considered the relevant matters concerning the course selection for Grade 10 and actively talked with their homeroom teachers through online P&B.

One of the students mentioned that she had made preparations in advance and read the introduction of the courses before Course Day, but there were still doubts about some issues, such as whether history was mandatory in Grade 10 and the depth of knowledge covered by AP history. The teacher not only answered her questions, but also expanded and introduced the structure of the history curriculum for the whole high school stage. Another student said that AP courses were very attractive and that many friends would like to take them, but he was concerned about whether they should take AP courses in the Grade 10 and if they could do a good job or not. However, after two hours of online Q&A, he made a definite decision.

We believe that students can combine their own interests, four-year plan and future college plans to make a suitable selection.
