Grade 11-12: NYU Shanghai Campus Visit

November 13, 2019

On November 8th, 11th and 12th grade student representatives from SHSID toured NYU Shanghai to prepare for the coming application season.

The students were divided into two groups, each led by four NYU Shanghai tour guide volunteers to explore the modern campus. The students were first led to the library, which was divided into two sections: a place where students can quietly discuss and a completely silent area. In the latter, there are free-to-use earplugs kindly placed at the door of the library to ensure that students are not be bothered by any noise.

Later, the students were brought to the classrooms. The volunteer guides told the students that although the classrooms are very spacious, usually there are only about 20 students in a class to ensure the students have the opportunity to communicate with their professor. Additionally, students toured the assembly hall, art classroom, dance classroom, music classroom, design studio, engineering lab, chemistry lab and other more specialized areas. Finally, students also visited the lively basement, walking through the cafeteria and gym, which allowed them to see the lifestyle and entertainment of NYU Shanghai students.

After the tour, students listened to the NYU Shanghai orientation and were informed of the global distribution of NYU campuses, as well as application requirements, method of application, scholarships, and other information regarding the college application.
