Lingang Grade 1: Read to “You”

September 26, 2022

This Thursday, the first-grade classroom in Lingang campus was suddenly filled with a bunch of plush, cute little friends who were there as reading buddies for the first graders. At Thursday's personal growth class, as soon as the bell rang, the children in the class immediately put down their busy schedules, took the books they had chosen, found a comfortable corner of the classroom, and brought their stuffed animals from home to walk into the world of books together. The purpose of the event was to encourage our first graders to read more, to gain knowledge, insight and understanding from reading. A great way to develop their interest in reading is through having a reading buddy to read together.

Reading along with their reading buddies is a great technique for helping children focus on the book in front of them. Even the children who don't like reading can get immersed in it, and this is where a stuffed animal reading buddy can help. After the bell rang, some of the children were still immersed in their books, and when they talked about the story they had just read, everyone was happy to share and greatly enjoyed the story, feeling reminiscent of it.

Bringing stuffed animals to read would get kids excited about reading so that they could develop an interest in exploring the classroom library further. We hope that such an event can slowly make reading a habit for the children and make reading enrich their daily life!
