History and Geography Department: Middle School Online Teaching Report

During the first two weeks of the new semester, history and geography teaching and learning went well in middle school via the platform of LinkedClassroom. There are 8 lesson preparing groups of teachers, who work together to prepare all the materials for 6thto 8thgrade students. They collected, edited and shared the teaching resources cooperatively, recorded lessons for the students and uploaded all the videos and worksheets to the platform 48 hours in advance. Students can start to do a preview work as long as the materials, including videos and files, are available to them. Online Q & A and Quiz are also provided to help solve the problems in time and do a self-assessment. Despite the long distance among the students and teachers, online courses connect everyone together. Well-designed lessons and assignments are helpful to stimulate students’ interest and to learn and consolidate new knowledge. Various communication tools also make interactions between teachers and students more timely and effective.

During this special period, when schools are suspended but learning is not disrupted, all the teachers and students are working hard to learn and adapt to a new way of teaching and learning. Let us keep on exploring and acquiring new skills and improving ourselves.
