Grade 9-10: Course Day
The sudden virus outbreak in the spring unfortunately put a halt to on-campus school activities, but it definitely did not disrupt the school's teaching or course day activities. In the afternoon of March 4th, the school arranged online course day activities for the 9th and 10th grade students. The teachers of the students’ future courses provided critical information on each course and held online Q&A sessions for students rushing to ask questions.
The teachers first explained the differences between IB, AP, A-level and the U.S.-based course systems. It's been stressed that students should choose a system that best fits their abilities and needs as this will be critical in the following two years of study. The teachers of each subject made elaborate preparations and posted course introduction profiles online for students to watch and learn from. With a better understanding of different courses, the students went to the online Q&A sessions of the courses they were interested in. All the teachers worked tirelessly to answer every question so that each student would have no qualms about choosing the right course for them, having been given a comprehensive understanding of each one.
By taking part in the course day activities, the 9th and 10th graders came to understand that it is important that they select the course most suitable for their own learning abilities, learning goals, and future college application plans. It is hoped that everyone's decision can be made with prudence and great thought and everyone can get well prepared for the next two years of study.
