High School Economics Department: Professional Development Day

On December 25th, SHSID’s Professional Development Day, teachers in the Economics Department gathered together to learn, share and plan. First, teachers reflected and summarized the work of this semester, including the changes to the syllabi, the lectures given by guest speakers from companies such as Coca Cola and Alibaba, and also the various competitions students participated in during the semester. Later, the meeting focused on the plan for the next semester.

Next semester, the Economics Department will continue cooperating with other departments. It plans to launch interdisciplinary projects with the Psychology and History Departments in order to improve students’ relevant skills and critical thinking. Additionally, teachers also discussed the activities that are to be included in Economics Week in next semester. Various activities, such as a poster exhibition, drama performance, business plan roadshow, guest speaker lectures and a debate were discussed. Teachers hope to give students more opportunities to have a deeper understanding of world economics and business trends. The meeting also discussed several new courses to be offered from the next school year.
