Middle School Biology Department：NGSS-aligned Unit and Lesson Creation

In the afternoon of December 25, 2019, the teachers of the Middle School Biology Department gathered together to have a very meaningful meeting about NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards).

The biology department invited Ms. Brynn, who has many years of biology teaching experience, as the speaker of the meeting. At the beginning of the meeting, Ms. Brynn introduced in detail what NGSS is and how to read the NGSS information. Afterwards, Ms. Brynn introduced how to design a lesson according to NGSS requirements, using her fifth-grade science class as an example. At the same time, Ms. Brynn also shared a lot of useful teaching resources and curriculum design ideas, which were very helpful. In the last part of the meeting, all the teachers had a curriculum design activity. Everyone designed their own teaching activities according to the requirements of NGSS and shared it with other teachers. After the department meeting, all teachers felt that they had benefited a lot from the activity.
