Grade 6: Youth Development Class—Puberty

March 10, 2021

On Mar. 4th, the sixth-grade students were separated by gender to different homerooms during the YD class to learn about the various aspects of puberty. Puberty is the process of human development when humans become able to reproduce. To begin the lesson, the teachers first started with a warm-up to better understand what the students already knew about puberty, to provide the students a more relaxing environment. The students were also encouraged to ask any questions they had anonymously, making the entire experience comfortable and safe.

After getting a basic idea about puberty, the teachers explained the general & specific changes during the period known as puberty. This explanation mostly included segments about height, weight, skin, and hair. Videos during the presentation allowed students to grasp more about puberty in a visual and fun way. Students visually saw products that could help them as they experience puberty for themselves. Teachers also simulated different events during puberty to allow the students to identify definite solutions on the topic. The variety of tips, questions, and facts imparted made the students more comfortable discussing puberty.

Students of both male and female genders are looking forward to the next wonderful experience of puberty class!
