Middle School
At SHSID Middle School, our educational mission is anchored in two core goals: nurturing independent learners and fostering responsible global citizens. Grounded in the developmental characteristics of middle school students, we have built a curriculum system that blends international vision with Chinese cultural roots. The curriculum is designed around the cultivation of core literacies and key competencies, with particular emphasis on developing students’ critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and leadership, as well as cross-cultural communication. This approach equips them with the mindset and practical skills needed to address the challenges of the future.
The curriculum framework consists of three major components: Core Academic Courses, Interest and Literacy Development Courses, and Innovative Experiential and Practical Courses. In addition, a specially designed Character and Moral Education Program runs through all three years of middle school, covering 14 themes and 24 units. Notably, the Grade 8 Service Learning program enables students to cultivate a strong sense of responsibility and empathy through community engagement and public service projects.
Supported by our Smart Campus comprehensive system and enriched by diverse, AI-powered teaching practices, students are empowered to achieve continuous and personalized growth, allowing them to discover their own unique pathways. In this process, they not only build academic confidence and achieve success, but also steadily enhance their cultural identity, social responsibility, and global competence.
