Middle and Primary School English Department: Foreign Teachers Winter Orientation

February 23, 2021

After a winter break of adjustment, the foreign teachers came to the school full of energy to participate in the pre-school training activities to prepare for the upcoming new school year. Before the training, they were informed of the school’s future plans for the Middle and PrimarySchool environment and expressed their excitement to see the new building and advanced teaching facilities. During the training, Ms. Scott began with a rousing discussion on community building using restorative justice strategies in the classroom, which led to a lively discussion on how to better understand the social and emotional needs of the students and to meet their own learning needs.

The training was divided into different topics, including Mr. Key’s presentation on how to further teachers’ skills through the platform “FutureLearn”, Ms. Skallerud’s presentation on new tech tools on teachers utilizing Linked Classroom, and Ms. Crips’ presentation on how to teach an engaging history lesson, etc. Teachers were able to choose any content that interested them. After just two days of training, the teachers were armed and ready for the start of the new semester.
