January 12, 2021

SHSID students recently won the S.-T. Yau High School Science Award. In this competition, a group of Grade 10 students won the second prize in the Science Award (Biology) division. A group of Grade 12 students won the second prize in the Science Award (Physics) division.

The S.-T. Yau High School Science Award was established by Mr. Shingtung Yau, a famous Chinese math master, in 2008 for Chinese middle-school students around the world. It consists of five science subjects: mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and computer science. Its idea is to advocate students' innovative thinking and teamwork ability, promote the students to participate in the form of group research reports, and stimulate and enhance students' interest in scientific research.

The process of independent exploration of scientific innovation requires extraordinary effort and persistence. It is never easy for the students to expand their academic interests outside of the class and finally achieve excellent results in this competition. It highlights their spirit of exploration and curiosity in science. Let us congratulate them as we look forward to more and more scientific achievements from them.
