Primary School Subjects Department: G1 The Fun of Exploring Never Ends!

December 30, 2020

December has been an incredibly fun and interesting month in First Grade Science. Our students have been learning about many cool topics.

We started the month by learning about different types of weather as well as the tools scientists use to predict what the weather will be like. Did you know, a scientist who studies and predicts the weather is called a meteorologist? The students made weather wheels to make their own predictions.

We then moved on to learn about the seasons and how the weather changes throughout the year. We learned about the different types of clouds we can see in the sky and we even made our own.

In week 16, we turned our attention to space. Our students began learning about the difference between night and day. They can explain how the Earth orbiting around the Sun can cause us to have light during the day and darkness at night. We finished off the month by learning about the characteristics of Earth’s moon, Luna. The students got their hands messy and made their own moons on their desks! Finally, the students discovered the many different moon phases and can name each stage of the cycle.

The semester is approaching an end, but the fun of Science never ends!
