Grade 10: Our Design Journey

December 24, 2020

On December 16th, Rena Yan, Mimi Yang, and Annabel Demarino discussed their journeys with graphic design, introducing various key concepts of design such as color theory and composition to their audience before linking together their roots in illustration to broader design skills. They moved through the different stages in their design and art, discussing the software they learned to use and the techniques they developed over time.

They also discussed the way design has impacted their work in different school clubs and jobs outside of school – including organizations like the ASB, SHSID Times, and the IAA. Outside of school, Mimi and Rena discussed their internships at Shodo, where they helped with website design for a startup, whilst Annabel discussed her partnership with the startup Oddly Formed, with whom she worked for brand promotion. Finally, to conclude the presentation, they promoted their own club of Art to Zine which focuses on providing a platform for the under-represented art community at SHSID.
