Grade 12: Assembly on Maintaining a Healthy Diet

December 18, 2020

On December 11th, Passion Chiang from class 12(4) gave a speech on her health project and gave advice on how to maintain a healthy diet.

Passion shared the initiative that sparked her interest in nutrition and dietetics: a twelve-year-old girl who was diagnosed with diabetes as she consumed fried chicken and bubble tea on a daily basis. Aiming to raise awareness of balanced eating and health issues among students, she decided to launch a health project by creating two posters. The first poster was about enhancing memory and improving concentration by consuming various foods that contained vitamins B6, B1, B5, B3, fatty acids, & Omega-3. She also pointed out the consequences of deficiencies in these vital elements. She then shared her second poster on different types of minerals and vitamins including calcium, vitamins C and E, magnesium, and zinc to help relieve stress and stabilize mood.

Finally, she displayed different food suggestions for the various nutrients presented in the posters. In addition, she encouraged the seniors to intake different kinds of foods that are not overcooked and that contain a variety of nutrition in order to establish a balanced diet.

By the end of the Assembly, the seniors were more aware about the health problems that might occur now and later in life, and about how important it is to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
