On December 6th, the Yuyin Society, established by famous Peking Opera artist Wang Peiyu and her team, introduced Puxi Grade 3 students to an interesting, engaging and inspiring lesson. This lesson gave Grade 3 the chance to experience authentic Peking Opera and profound Chinese traditional culture.

The host started off with the Chinese lessonMei Lanhuato stimulate the students’ curiosity. Afterwards, the speaker from the Yuyin Society introduced the history, different characters, the costumes and the four main roles in Peking Opera. The speaker also showed the kids some famous arias. As everybody knows, it poses some difficulty to learn and even appreciate this type of art form. Grade 3 therefore followed the detailed presentation step-by-step, listening very attentively, participating actively and being amazed at times. Later, under the guidance of the speaker, some students had the opportunity to put on the costumes and learn some typical techniques on stage. At the end, the speaker prepared some prizes for students who gave correct answers.

As described by the Yuyin Society, Peking Opera can be felt in many ways. Even during the short period, Grade 3 students were exposed to its beautiful characteristics from multiple perspectives. We believe this experience will be treasured in their memory forever.
