The First Round of SAGES Was Successfully Held at SHSID

On November 29th, the First Round of SAGES was successfully held at Shanghai High School International Division with more than a hundred competitors from 12 different schools participating in the challenge and exchanging ideas about the strategic game of Go.

SAGES was officially established in 2017, since then students from different schools experienced the great charm of Go through this cultural and sport exchange. Compared with the previous two contests, the scale of this year’s competition was much bigger and the competition system and rules have been more detailed. Great attention has been paid to promote honor and participation among schools and competitors..

This year is the third year for SAGES. After the opening ceremony, the group matches were divided among 12 different groups, who were further divided into Group A and Group B. According to the contest schedule, each team would play a round-robin match. The players from SHSID worked together and achieved great success even under high pressure. After each round, there was a lot of communication and encouragement among the team members. In addition to winning the games, players gained great experience and friendship as well and further understood that Go itself is the best language to make communication and exchange ideas for all the competitors.
