Grade 8: Story Buddy Service Learning Team

December 3, 2019

The 8thgrade Story Buddy Service Learning Team started activities in week 11. For the past 3 weeks, almost every day during lunchtime the group members tell stories to children in grades 1-2.

This activity is actually much more challenging than it seems. The 8thgraders have had to learn how to engage the 1stand 2ndgraders in the stories and have given up their lunchtime to undertake this activity. In addition, group members have to be disciplined, responsible, and manage their time well.

People might ask certain questions like: what good does story buddy bring? How do the books the 8th graders read impact the children? The answer is: Story Buddy brings benefits to both the 8thgraders and the children in primary school. The 8thgraders can have a time of reprieve, while the children can listen to creative books that the 8thgraders bring. This little service might change the way that students think and will develop critical thinking beyond just knowing how to study. Small things matter. Welcome to Story Buddy!
