Grade 10: Assembly – Balancing Study and Activities

December 2, 2019

On November 27th, students were treated to a presentation by Jessie Wang about how she manages her busy school life through a system of color codes, computer folders, and calendars. Accompanying her normal schoolwork, she participates in public speaking events, Model United Nations, theater/drama, the ASB, and her own self-run charity organization Project Kindle.

Many may wonder how one student can undertake this number of extracurricular activities and manage school at the same time. She does it via well-organized folders for each separate subject and event; and dedicates specific times to each one through a calendar that is set up at the beginning of each week. This system allows her to focus on each individual event without losing sight of the others.

Most of all, she stressed in her presentation the importance of being passionate about the work you do so that focus can follow that eagerness to design or participate. Working on a project that you enjoy goes far in making you concentrate and making the best use of your time.
