Puxi Grade 3:Science Talk by Grade 8

December 1, 2019

During recess time on November 25thto 29th, Grade 3 got to listen to a very well-prepared Science Talk from Grade 8. The Science Talk was about a closely related topic in our daily life: sweat and urine. When the first slide popped up, some kids burst out in laughter, some whispered to discuss, and some showed very serious and curious looks. Undoubtedly, this topic aroused the attention of all students.

First, Grade 8 students introduced them to the definition of sweat, two types of sweat glands, and substances contained in sweat so that all Grade 3 kids could observe and think in a scientific perspective. They then continued to talk about what urine was, the components in it, and some fun facts in an entertaining way. Afterwards, under their guidance, the kids figured out the similarities between the sweat and urine. The talk culminated in the discussion of whether you are accidentally drinking urine or not when sweating.

This talk offered a platform for different grades to learn and communicate. As for Grade 3 students, it was even more meaningful and important. During the short period, all the kids absorbed themselves in learning and displayed great listening as well as participation, which has definitely laid foundations for their future studies in science.
