The Fifth Graders Took Part in Bottle Recycling

June 17, 2019

Recently, students from the 5th grade started bringing in different kinds of bottles to recycle.

To recycle bottles, you first need to find bottles that have striped codes on them. Then, you need to point the striped code up and put it in the machine. For the last step, you input your number so you can get the points.

Because of this recycling activity, the 5th graders tried their best to recycle. Every day during recess, students can go to the machine and put in bottles that they’ve collected. During the Labor Day holiday, my neighbors and I took about 6 big bags and started collecting bottles that were on the on the ground. We even collected bottles from the garbage bins. When I counted the bottles, I found that I had already collected 74 bottles! One fifth grader even collected 323 bottles! How amazing!

During this activity, we learned that recycling is a very important practice. If we don’t recycle, these plastic bottles will be seen as garbage and thrown into the ocean. After that, sea animals will think that they are food and eat them, resulting in negative effects in the oceans.

SHSID created this activity to show us how important it is to recycle. Moreover, through this event, we were ready for the upcoming garbage classification.
