On June 11th, 2019, grade one students at SHSID Pudong campus learned a lesson called “Wrinkled Heart” during their Personal Growth Class. During the lesson, students first colored paper hearts that were given to them, making those hearts theirs. Later, students were shown a short a video about a mouse who got mocked in school for her name but was comforted at home. Students were asked to crunch their hearts whenever they hear negative words, and to soothe their hearts when hearing some nice, kind words. At the end of the video, students were surprised to find that no matter how hard they tried, you can never flatten a wrinkled heart. As our students finish the first grade, we hope to inspire them to share love and sympathy with the people around them.
