Primary and Middle School English Department: G1-3 Reading Wonderland

March 28, 2024

Our primary school recently transformed into a magical Reading Wonderland, captivating our young readers from grades 1 to 3 in an enchanting journey through different book genres. The theme for the week was "Reading Wonderland", and the children were immersed in a world of literary exploration and joy in the whole week.

Across all campuses, students engaged in an array of magical, immersive activities. From the search for "Cuddles", the magical bookmark, which required students to engage in reading activities to solve and reveal his hiding place, to the "Character Dress-up Day" to celebrate the diverse interests and literary passions of the students, to the magnificent, "Mad Hatter Tea Party", students were shown the magic and joy that English reading can facilitate.

Each campus carried out different creative and characteristic activities under the leadership of teachers. Puxi campus solved daily riddles, with the help of the "masked readers", to find the elusive "Cuddles". Zhangjiang campus introduced "Literature Lounge" which turned lunchtimes into an adventure, transporting students into the magical realms of stories. Lin'gang campus happily participated in a book swap to help reuse and share books with one another. Hongkou campus engaged in a puppet show to bring book characters to life.

Our Reading Wonderland was not just a week of entertaining literary exploration, but an event which significantly enriched the young mind as a testament to the joy and magic that stories bring into our lives. We are grateful for the support of our teachers, parents, and the entire school community in making this Reading Wonderland a truly magical and memorable event! The smiles on the faces of our students spoke volumes about the success of this immersive and enchanting reading experience. We hope that students will continue to read and grow up for pleasure!
