CAE Member and Expert Achievement Exhibition and Transformation Centre, Shanghai Institute of practical science Popularization, and Shanghai High School International Division signed a cooperation agreement to establish the "Future Youth S&T Innovation Camp Student Source Base"

On the afternoon of April 16, 2024, Shanghai High School International Division, CAE Member and Expert Achievement Exhibition and Transformation Centre, and Shanghai Institute of Practical Science Popularization (SIPSP) signed a cooperation agreement on the establishment of the "Future Youth S&T Innovation Camp Student Source Base" in the conference room of the Administrative Building of Shanghai High School.

The signing ceremony was attended by Wang Hang, Director of CAE Member and Expert Achievement Exhibition and Transformation Centre, and Zhang Yanji, Chief Engineer of the Center; Chen Lin, Director of Shanghai Science and Technology Exchange Center (SSTEC); Zhang Liang, Director of Shanghai Institute of Practical Science Popularization (SIPSP), and Chen Tingting, Assistant Director of SIPSP; Feng Zhigang, Principal of Shanghai High School; Ma Feng, Principal of SHSID High School; Liu Min and Zhang Li, Deputy Principals of SHSID High School; Liu Qin, Assistant Principal and Director of Student Center of SHSID High School; Gu Ying, Director of School Affairs Center of SHSID High School; and Liao Hui, Chief Science and Technology Advisor of SHSID High School.

After the host briefly introduced the guests, Principal Ma Feng and Director Zhang Liang signed the cooperation agreement, witnessed by Principal Feng Zhigang and Director Wang Hang. Subsequently, Principal Feng Zhigang and Director Wang Hang jointly unveiled the plaque for the "Future Youth S&T Innovation Camp Student Source Base" of CAE Member and Expert Achievement Exhibition and Transformation Centre.

Principal Feng Zhigang expressed high praise for this collaboration and clearly emphasized its crucial significance in enhancing the research qualities of SHSID students. He stressed that through the deep and fruitful cooperation between the two parties, students from SHSID will have the opportunity to gain access to the advanced equipment and technologies of cutting-edge research laboratories. This will not only provide them with a vast practical platform but also create richer learning resources. More importantly, students will have the chance to receive personal guidance from academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, which will have a profound impact on their academic development. Principal Feng also expressed his eager anticipation that this collaboration would further facilitate the cultivation of students' innovative and practical abilities, laying a solid foundation for their future academic journey.

Director Wang Hang introduced the overview of the CAE Member and Expert Achievement Exhibition and Transformation Centre. Jointly established by the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, the Centre was officially inaugurated in Jiading District in April 2021. One of the Centre's important missions is to provide science popularization that is accessible and understandable to students of all ages, and to assist them in their scientific development. The "Future Youth S&T Innovation Camp" is a significant project organized by the Centre. Adhering to the principle of "one student, one academician, one plan," the camp will facilitate one-on-one guidance from academicians for students participating in scientific research, academic discussions, and experimental innovation. Through this process, students will engage in a series of innovative practices such as exploring the mysteries of science, participating in camp activities, and writing research reports. The establishment of the "Future Youth S&T Innovation Camp Student Source Base" through this agreement with SHSID aims to further expand the exchange platform between academicians and students based on the existing camp framework. This will be achieved through activities such as on-campus lectures and visits to cutting-edge laboratories, etc.

At the conclusion of the signing ceremony, both parties went through certain details of their future cooperation. Subsequently, the guests visited the school's new teaching buildings, laboratories, and specialized teaching facilities. In the future, both parties will leverage the "bringing in" and "going out" approaches to mutually learn and exchange, providing students with a higher platform and greater energy for their scientific education.
