Grade 9 Assembly: Student Representative’s Speech

April 12, 2019

In the Grade 9 Assembly this week, Leo Feng from 9(10) gave a speech to recruit student volunteers for a project he is currently working on, called, “Boy to Man”. This project is aimed at teaching teenage boys how to be mature in preparation for the “real world.” This project was initially inspired when Aaron, a friend of Leo, witnessed reckless fighting between famous basketball players. Recognizing the need to correct this example of irresponsible behaviour, Leo joined Aaron in developing this program to help boys develop maturity. Together, Leo and Aaron have visited several cities, from Shanghai to Hubei, to host programs where they can communicate with and understand the struggles of local boys as well as assist them in managing or resolving their issues. Leo and Aaron’s ultimate goal is to create a large-scale research project on the problems that boys face, which will reach over 3000 boys in the next three years. Ultimately, they plan to give boys, especially teenage boys, more self-awareness in difficult situations, mental and emotional coping techniques, and a stronger sense of responsibility for their community.
