Grade 8 Service Learning: Caring for Sunshine Angels

April 24, 2019

On April 19th, Sunshine Angels Service Learning group held their second off-campus activity. The first took place on March 22nd, when the members helped the Sunshine Angels make soap and live happier lives.

There are many ways to help people who are in need, and this Service Learning group tries to provide help through a combination of spending time with the Sunshine Angels (adults who have either mental or physical disabilities that prevent them from being able to work and live a normal life), and making donations by helping them sell soap. The activities are divided into both off-campus and on-campus activities: off-campus activities involve visiting and making soap while on-campus activities involve using posters and presentations to spread the idea so more people will learn about and help this group of people.

Since the start of this semester, they have made two visits to the Sunshine Angels and assisted in the soap-making and wrapping process. At the same time, the students also made posters and presentations in grade 8. In addition to that, they sold a lot of soap during the cultural bazaar in week 11. The money has been donated to the organization to help the Sunshine Angels live a better life.
