Colorful High School—Extracurricular Activities

April 15, 2019

Provided the opportunities for lifelong development, SHSID students benefit from over 100 diverse club activities with focuses on academics, hobbies, charities, etc.

Students establish clubs according to their interests, using self-made online websites to publicize and recruit members. They can also take part in club activities under the guidance of teacher advisors.

SHSID students have achieved remarkable results in various competitions. From STEM related competitions like Envirothon to business competitions like FBLA and interdisciplinary competitions like USAD, SHSID students not only display their capabilities at a national scale but also share an influential reputation internationally.

Beyond participating in academic clubs, SHSID high school students also pursue their hobbies. Live to Drama has presented over six theatrical productions, ranging from small scale plays to Broadway musicals. MTC—Animusic Club focuses on both ACG study and volunteering. Longyin Club studies Chinese neoclassicism and spreads awareness about traditional Chinese culture, including artistry and Chinese makeup.

Additionally, SHSID aims to cultivate “responsible global citizens”. ECO CAP exemplifies this educational philosophy. ECO CAP club members collect bottle caps from around the campus and use the profits collected from recycling them to fund charitable acts like providing vaccines to African children or certain underprivileged patients.

Through all these extracurricular club activities, SHSID students can cultivate remarkable talents with a high degree of competitiveness and strong sense of commitment towards the community at large.
