Hand in Hand, We Dedicate Care and Love Together: Children's Day Charity Concert by Music for People (MFP Club) of Shanghai High School International Division

May 30, 2019

On the afternoon of May 24th, 2019, the melody of Shanghai Children's Medical Center’s Academy Song, "Protecting Spring", played by Kingsley Poon and Grace Xu again echoed through the outpatient Hall of SCMC. It also opened the prelude of the Children's Day Charity Concert of Music for People, also known as MFP Club, from Shanghai High School International Division.

This marked the 14th charity concert organized by the club for SCMC. As Children's Day approached, the members of the MFP club—all students from SHSID—worked together with the students from the Second Central Primary School of Pudong (SCPS) to present their well-prepared pieces and programs to the children, their families, and SCMC’s medical staff.

They presented both famous Chinese and foreign piano repertoire and brass pipe multiples to the audiences in different styles, which made for elegant and beautiful enjoyment. The series of ancient poetry recitations, children's voice solo, and accordion solo show brought by the SCPS students immersed everyone in an idyllic and poetic state. The members of the club's stringed trio Palladio and Flute Quartet played lively and smooth melodies corresponding to a series of Japanese animation, which won a burst of applause from the audience. The concert ended successfully with Chopin’s Black Key Etudes by Kingsley Poon.

After the concert, members of the MFP club visited the children hospitalized in the Cardiovascular Ward with elaborate gifts, encouraging them to face their illnesses bravely and to welcome early recovery with a positive attitude. We wish everyone a good health and a happy Children's Day.
