Grades 9-10: Summer Bash

June 3, 2019

On May 31st, 2019, grade 9 and 10 students participated in Summer Bash—an epic water-soaked adventure filled with fun, games and Taco Bell, as Summer Bash has been a traditional Associated Student Body (ASB) event for the past five years. It was a fantastic way to relieve stress after a very meaningful school year.

The first part of summer bash consisted of a massive water fight, conducted with all types of water guns and water balloons. In a free-for-all brawl, students from all around blasted and soaked each other in cascades of liquid upon the saturated battlefield. There were also exhilarating, slippery soap slides. Everyone had plenty of fun, even as they had water balloons popped over their heads.

Dinner consisted of tacos, nachos, brownies, lemonade, and a rather interesting selection of music. Despite some potentially dubious song entries nominated by the audience, the ASB’s pulled it off without a hitch. After dinner, the Duma and games continued with a wild rush for the piñata, face painting, music chairs, and a curious case of using lemons to play catch.

As an ASB member, Lauren of grade 9 relates: “Of course, none of this would’ve been possible without the members of ASB organizing the event as well as the support of the school. Starting from a general retro theme to multiple detailed drafts of proposals and purchasing lists, from a vague vision of the event to purchasing and utilizing all of the seemingly endless packages, from simple ticket and water gun prices to organizing complicated excels and coding an entire mini program, and from being an unknown and mysterious event to a widely anticipated summer festival through promotion articles and posters. The ASB team is proud to say that Summer Bash 2019 is truly a success. We look forward to next year’s summer bash!”
