Grade 8: Service-Learning Reflections

June 3, 2019

On Thursday, May 30th, the 8th graders gathered in the Xianmian auditorium to listen to the reflections of 18 brilliant service-learning groups. This was the second and final Service-Learning Reflection held for the 8th graders this year. These 18 groups informed the rest of the 7th and 8th graders in the auditorium about how they had succeeded in service learning, as well as the many challenges they had faced. This year, many service-learning groups dedicated themselves to charity, teaching, and the environment. Many service-learning groups, including Carry SHSID and 1 Million Meters, earned money and donated books, clothing, etc. Other service-learning Groups, such as Fun Math and World Arts, taught younger students about the wonders of math, fine arts, and many more subjects. Groups such as MPCT and Waste into Value helped the community and the middle school section protect the environment through picking up trash and recycling in general. The Video Group helped other service-learning groups make videos, and they ended the presentations with a video of all the service-learning groups of the 2018-2019 school year.

Of course, this was not the end of the reflection. Finally, a simple ceremony was conducted to present monetary donations to organizations such as Sunshine Station. It was an emotional scene for all of us. This article is one of the last works of the 2018 Service-Learning Group Program, and we would like to thank all parents, teachers, and, most importantly, the students for helping organize and participate throughout the 2018 school year.
