Grade 12: Class of 2019 Prom

June 5, 2019

The Class of 2019’s Prom was hosted at Wanda Reign on June 3rd, 2019. The seniors began to enter the vicinity at 5:00—all well-dressed and eager with anticipation. They gathered to take memorial photos, as well as photos for the election of the prom king and queen.

The first prom performance began at 5:50, during which a group of energetic seniors began to dance on the stage. Their performance was followed by a series of lotteries as well as other music and songs performed by the seniors. At the same time, students feasted as they enjoyed the lovely entertainment.

After all the tables finished their dinners, the classes began to take their class photos. This was followed by the prom video, which was filmed and edited by Thomas Wu and Daniel Xue with the help of other seniors. The video included all of the different facets of our high school life. It began with a hilarious depiction of a student’s heroic action—retrieving take-out for his starving friends—and continued to true events. From the Summer Bash to L2D’s performance of “Legally Blonde”, the video included almost every activity from 9th to 12th grade. After showing a variety of activities, the prom video continued to its final stage: teacher interviews. The heartfelt words from our homeroom teachers, Director Liu, and Principal Ma drove many to tears.

Soon after the prom video ended, the results of the prom king and queen poll were announced. Out of the thirteen couples, team Frella, with Franz Zhou and Stella Zhang, excelled in the number of supporters. They opened a giant bottle of sparkling beverage in celebration, bringing a new level of excitement to the prom.

The prom ended after a grade picture featuring all seniors and their teachers was taken. Though the prom has ended, our friendships and memories will accompany us on our journey to college, and forever become an inseparable part of our identity. As they say, cheers to the future!
