Grade 6: Coca Cola Factory Visit

June 5, 2019

On May 30th, the 6th graders went to different places to learn more about different careers. 6(3) went to the Coca Cola factory in Shanghai and it was splendid! The workers first showed the students the history of Coca Cola. Dr. John Pemberton invented Coca Cola. The first real Coca Cola was sold at Jacob’s pharmacy in the form of a drink, and not a painkiller as some people mentioned. Coca Cola was also responsible for creating Santa’s figure (a fat, jolly man with red clothes and a white beard).

After explaining Coca Cola’s origins, the workers showed the students how Coca Cola is made into the form you see in stores. The machine that fills the soft drink into the bottle can fill more than 250 bottles per minute! The bottle is “blown” into its shape and is plastered after it is filled. The bottle is then put into storage and the carrier trucks pick up the packs and move them to stores. Some of Coca Cola’s famous drinks include Coca Cola, Sprite, and Fanta. Among these three, Fanta is the most popular in China despite it being unhealthier than Coca Cola.

All in all, the career day “mini” field trip was an amazing experience.
