Grades 11-12 Staff Activity: Making Zongzi Together

June 10, 2019

During the rainy afternoon of Monday, June 10th, all Chinese and foreign teachers of grades 11 and 12 gathered together at the SODEXO cafeteria to experience making zongzi (glutinous rice dumplings), a traditional delicacy made and eaten during the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival. This festive and fun activity was held by Director Liu Qin.

Before the activity began, stations with reef leaves, red beans, glutinous rice, and other materials were prepared for the staff. As soon as the teachers arrived at the scene, they could not wait to surround the tables and begin making zongzi. Teachers wrapped dumplings and shared the historical origin and traditional customs of the Dragon Boat Festival.

This activity aimed to establish a platform for Chinese and foreign teachers to enhance communication, while also providing an opportunity to further experience the essence and charm of Chinese culture.
