On the afternoon of February 17th, Grade 9 students had their first gateway course of the new semester in the Xianmian Annex. Two teachers shared information on the topic of sex education.

Grade 9 students, having reached the age of puberty, have gradually become mature both physically and mentally. However, sometimes, various kinds of changes may make teenagers feel like they’re at a loss about what to do. From a scientific perspective, Ms. Gu Ying explained the different hormonal changes of boys and girls during puberty, as well as the subsequent physical and psychological changes. Then, Ms. Cui Mengdi led the students through a brief history of birth control methods and explained the usage of several methods that are commonly used. The two teachers told the students that when teenagers face their own body changes and physiological development, it’s completely understandable and also normal for them to grow curious and have a desire to know more about the human body.

This course gave Grade 9 students a more scientific understanding of their own bodies and minds and will surely help them go through puberty healthier and more smoothly.
