Middle School Biology Department: Healthy Diets and Regular Exercise Make Us Healthier—G7 Projects on “Nutrition, Exercise, and Health”

January 10, 2022

This semester, the seventh graders have learned about the human body system in their science class. The teachers arranged an activity related to nutrition, exercise, and health to help the students better understand their bodies and live healthier lives. We hope students take this opportunity to strive for a more nutritious diet and regular exercise.

The first part of this activity is “Nutrition.” As the phrase goes, “Food is the first and foremost sustenance in people’s lives.” Food is the material basis of human life activities. Daily food intake is related to our quality of life and health. A balanced diet is essential for middle school students who are in a crucial period of growth and development. Firstly, students are required to record their daily diet for three days and classify their foods. Then they were suggested to visit www.choosemyplate.gov to check the recommended diet. They then made an improved diet plan and implemented it over the next few days. Everyone compared their two diets and drew conclusions. The students made exquisite posters to show the results. Since January 5th, the posters have been displayed at the corridor on the fourth floor of the Zhongxing Building, and

you can come to visit these colorful works. It’ll be worth it!

In addition to a healthy diet, regular exercise is also essential for a healthy lifestyle. The second part of the activity is “Exercise.” The students first watched videos about aerobic and anaerobic exercise videos and sought professional advice. Then they made their own exercise plans. Finally, everyone made an exercise video to introduce the joints and muscles involved in the exercise and explain the impact of exercise on the body.

Although this activity is over, its impact on students is far-reaching. It guides everyone to develop scientific eating habits and establish a healthy life philosophy. It also helps them to meet every day of study and life with a healthy body and a complete mental state.
