Grade 6: Youth Development Class "Duty Reflection and New Year Goals Setting"

January 6, 2022

On December 30, the sixth graders used the YD class to hold the long-awaited pizza party in the Youth Development class. The original purpose of this event was to reward duty this semester. The number of pizzas in each class was allocated according to the quality of responsibility in each homeroom. The class with the highest score on duty would get the most pizza. This reward policy was announced to the students at the beginning of this semester to motivate the students to take responsibility seriously and strive to make their class win more pizza. Also, there were two additional pizza: one was rewarded to students for their wonderful performances at the Art Festival, and the other was awarded to students who contributed to the reading corner in every class. The students watched movies and ate pizza, having endless fun!

The second YD class set a “word goal” for 2022. First, the foreign teachers led students to brainstorm words that could be used as “word goals,” such as focus, leadership, and time management. These were the areas where students wanted to make progress in 2022. Then, students picked their favorite words from these ideas and wrote them down in beautiful artistic fonts. Next, the students shared their goals by answering some questions: Why did you choose this word? How will you move toward this goal? How will you measure your progress? Finally, the teachers selected the best works to display in the class.

In the last Youth Development class in 2021, the sixth-grade students summarized the duty work of this semester, enjoyed delicious pizza, set goals for the coming new year. When the New Year bell rings, let’s look forward to the bright future of 2022!
