Puxi Grade 2: Geo Fair

May 23, 2019

Week 13 was an exciting week for all the second graders at SHSID. They spent the whole week travelling around the world in their Social Studies classes and learned a lot about many countries. On Thursday, May 16, every student visited three different countries during their Science and Social Studies class and learned a lot about that country’s traditions, culture, famous people, and special events. Altogether, seven countries were introduced in this year’s second grade Geography Fair, including Mexico, Ireland, France, India, Grace, Peru and Canada. Before the Geo Fair, students prepared by researching a country’s flag, landmarks, cuisine, famous people, and history in their Social Studies class. Students introduced the country their class represented to others and also toured other classes to feel the culture of each different country. They collected stamps from the teachers on their little “passports”.

Every student enjoyed the Geo Fair and enjoyed discovering more about this amazing world. This was great experiential learning practice. We hope this will help every student develop an international mindset and encourage them to explore more about this colorful world!
