Colleges Information Session II – Columbia, Duke, Georgetown, Northwestern, Princeton and Vanderbilt

On Monday, August 28th, SHSID hosted a public college information session with representatives from Columbia University, Duke University, Georgetown University, Northwestern University, Princeton University, and Vanderbilt University. A Counselor’s Event attracted many counselors from Shanghai and nearby cities. Over 800 students, parents, and counselors registered for the program and were welcomed on campus to hear the admission officers from the six universities introduce their schools. Together, the admissions officers also explained the core values that they share in admitting students through holistic reviews. However, they also stressed the importance of conducting careful college research on the schools that students are more interested in to find out the specific requirements, such as of testing and financial aid, that may be unique to each school.

The event ended with a Q&A session where each admission officers occupied a different area for the students to approach them and ask personalized questions about the institutions and admissions. As the event came to a close, attendees left with abundant information about the six schools, as well as insights into the admissions process of universities in the United States.
