YMUN China International Relations Seminar and Yale Model United Nations China 2016 Held

YMUN China International Relations Seminar and Yale Model United Nations China 2016 were successfully hosted at SHSID between Aug. 10th and 19th. The seminar lasted for 6 days. With the guidance from 5 mentors from Yale University, students gained an overall sense of the Model United Nations format. Following these seminars was the 4-day 2016 YMUN China Conference, which attracted over 300 delegates across the world. There were over 10 committees focusing on massively important global issues. With the guidance from 15 chairs from Yale University, delegates collaborated to work out solutions towards these problems and presented their ideas to all.

During the conference, Ms. Bryna Tuft, Vice Consul from Consulate General of the United States of America in Shanghai, delivered a speech to YMUN China 2016. Mr. Ma Feng, SHSID High School Principal, welcomed Ms. Tuft and had a great meeting with her. It was mentioned that YMUN China 2016 was the 1st college MUN Conference ever hosted at a high school in China. SHSID stated its willingness to build and improve their platform for high school students who are interested in Model UN.

SHSID sent a delegation of 9 students, to most of whom the MUN format was new. However, after some intense training before the conference, the SHSID delegates confidently discussed issues, formed their blocs, and wrote their Draft Resolutions. Their wonderful performances were well recognized by all chairs and the chairs’ comments dispelled all misconceptions. Congratulations to the SHSID delegation!
