SHSID Enjoys Continuous Success at Overseas Model United Nations Conferences

Having received several invitations from overseas Model United Nations Conferences, SHSID commenced the overseas MUN program in the winter of 2014. Since then, SHSID has participated in many important MUN events. In 2014, SHSID attended the Harvard MUN Conference (HMUN) LXII and the HMUN Conference LXIII in 2015. IN 2016, SHSID attended both the Yale MUN Conference XLII and the Ivy League MUN Conference XXXII.

Each conference honors its participants with awards, such as Best Delegate, Outstanding Delegate, Honorable Mention and Verbal Accommodation. The hard work and wisdom demonstrated by SHSID’s delegates has been reflected in the recognition they have received from these awards.

SHSID delegations of Alex Liu and Daniel Cai in 2014, and Jayden Liu and Skyler Shi in 2015 were both awarded Best Delegation at the HMUN in their respective years. With only a 0.63% chance of victory, both delegations beat the odds and were chosen from over 3,000 other delegates, in the process becoming the only delegates to win the award from China.

2016 has brought further success for the school. Chloe Tan of Grade 10 ranked amongst the top 1.5% of delegates, as only 27 candidates were chosen from a possible 1800 for the 'best delegate' award at Yale MUN Conference. Furthermore, Ricky Pan of Grade 11 won the “Honorable Mention” award at the Yale MUN, while Victor YU and Jackson Chen, Tiffany Mei and Christine Hwang of Grade 11 received Verbal Accommodations from their committee at the Ivy League MUN. SHSID delegates were the only winners among all delegations from China. Their achievements show the exemplary effort and commitment from our students.

Congratulations to SHSID delegates! We wish SHSID delegates every success in the coming year.
