SHSID chess club was founded in early 2021 but has already made vast progress. Every Tuesday, a group of high school students gathers in Zhentao Building for chess class with their teacher David. The lesson usually consists of going through an opening, then puzzles, or a simultaneous chess match with the teacher.

In May, some club members headed to compete in their first competition as a team. 5 students represented SHSID, and all won in their respective divisions, winning the Shanghai team champion award in two divisions. They look forward to many more competitions and the club welcomes all students who enjoy playing chess to join.
