Grade 10 Visual Arts Curriculum

Shanghai High School International Division is committed to cultivating students with a global perspective and a Chinese sentiment in the tide of international education. The 10th grade, as a crucial stage of high school education, lays a solid foundation for the Advanced Placement courses in 11th and 12th grades. It profoundly impacts students' future academic research preparation and career development.

We have adopted an integrated teaching strategy in designing the 10th grade visual arts curriculum. We have selected research-based learning and creative work exercises from international high school art courses and methods for strengthening plastic arts skills from domestic high school art courses. This integration focuses on cultivating students' innovative thinking and emphasizes a deep understanding and expression of basic modeling abilities.

We also encourage students to explore and research traditional Chinese cultural elements, integrating them into their artistic creations. This approach aims to cultivate artistic expression abilities that are internationally minded and deeply rooted in Chinese traditional culture.
