Bio-Physics Week Exhibition

June 8, 2021

From May 31st to June 4th, Bio-physics projects were exhibited outside Zhentao Buiding. The exhibition topic was “the Waves of Life”.

Students from Grades 9 and 10, in groups of 2 or 3 members, completed a project demonstrating their understanding of waves. They analyzed the application of waves in real life from the perspective of physics and biology, with a diverse range of topics including sound, light, coloration, eyes, lens, radiation and much more. Students took active part in this projects due to their interests in the fields of biology and physics. Students produced many excellent pieces, some of which were displayed outside Zhentao Building.

From these exceptional projects, students can see that the physical world is full of waves. But they mean more than photosynthesis from light or lens that correct myopia. In many ways, life is a wave—it has ups and downs, highs and lows, just as a wave has its crests and troughs. People are constantly propelled forward by the wave of life. The biophysics exhibition enhanced students’ knowledge of waves in specific subjects, and helped them take away the concepts' larger implications. As the SHSID STEM team wrote in its article introducing the project, “When we have the courage, we will be able to ride the wind and catch excitement with every wave”.
