Grade 10: Celebration for NEC Prize Winners

June 3, 2021

On May 28th, the National Economics Challenge (NEC) Committee sent trophies and medals to SHSID, and a small award ceremony was held in Zhentao Building for the prize winners. In March this year, three teams from Grade 10 of SHSID went to Nanjing to participate in the NEC China Round. Hundreds of teams and thousands of competitors participated. The teams participating in the China Round had already excelled in the Regional Round, and their performance this time was even more astonishing. NEC China Round had two main parts: the online “Critical Thinking” and the offline “Qualifying Test”. In the “Critical Thinking” part, contestants were asked to write an economics paper analyzing a specific real-world problem. It required contestants to know how to apply economics theories and ideas in real life. The offline “Qualifying Test” was held during the competition in Nanjing. It consisted of multiple-choice questions for three parts: microeconomics, macroeconomics, and international trade. It required contestants to fully understand the economics concepts they had learned from the book.

In this competition, the three teams in Grade 10 won the gold medal, silver medal, and bronze medal, respectively. Congratulations to all!
