Grade 12:Senior Project Introduction

May 21, 2021

While it comes to the time of the year for senior students to leave the campus, May also signifies the final stage of their Senior Project. In order to allow each student to fully demonstrate their abilities and achievements through high school, SHSID provides a variety of choices for its Senior Protect, putting every effort to make this project a perfect ending to seniors' four years of high school experience.

Online Internship

As the pandemic is not over, this year's the Student Internship Program still adopts an online mode. At the beginning of this semester, students in Grade 12 used their relatively free time after the end of the application season to independently choose their favorite internship institutions that they would spend their following two weeks for. The students who chose to participate in the online internship program have devoted themselves to their corresponding jobs in various business institutions or social organizations. Many students have found new aspirations adapting their textbook knowledge into the real world solutions. During this short internship experience, they also had a new understanding of their future academic focus and career paths.

Independent Research

Other students chose an independent research as the option of their projects. With the help of an in-school mentor, students carried out their own in-depth explorations on an academic topic during the fourteen days of Senior Project week, and presented their research results to the school teachers and students on the final day. Through this research process, many graduates condensed their academic knowledge gathered in high school, and regarded the process of independent research a final presentation of their four years of high school achievements. At the same time, this independent research opportunity also lays good foundation for students to adapt to college-level study.

Seminars

The third option of SHSID Senior Project is seminars. Students involved in this activity would attend academic seminars hosted at school by assigned teachers. During the seminars, students were required to develop deeper thinking about their corresponding academic topic, and also to reflect on the ideas covered in theseminars. These seminars covered a wide range of academic fields, including bioengineering, human studies, law, and so on. In addition, students participating in the seminar also completed the after-school tasks assigned by the host teachers to further expand their understanding of the topics.

Through the fourteen days of Senior Project week, each and every student has brought out something meaningful. At the same time, the Senior Project also helped develop the students' critical thinking ability and creativity skills. In the last stage of high school career, we hope every 2021 graduate will make her Senior Project experience a perfect highlight for high school life.
