Grade 10: Performance in Memory of Lu Xun

April 20, 2021

As one of the representative figures after the May Fourth Movement, Lu Xun made a significant contribution to the development of Chinese social thinking. In the third week of April, to commemorate Mr. Lu Xun's writings and revolutionary spirit for the development of his country, the 10th-grade Chinese class students gathered together to start a performance about Lu Xun in the basement studio of Zhentao Building. Among them, there were interpretations of Lu Xun's classic works, as well as the re-enactment of Lu Xun's life in Shanghai; regardless of literature or reality, all the students' performances were unforgettable.

First of all, the play presented by the first group fully demonstrated the touching scene of Lu Xun and his family before his death. The frail Lu Xun, Xu Guangping, who loved Mr. Xu, and Hai Ying, who was respectful to his father, were performed by the students on the stage, as if the scene of Lu Xun's passing was unfolding before the eyes of the world.

The second group of students used their high-pitched voices and superb acting skills to vividly show that Lu Xun helped his friend Qu Qiubai evade the pursuit of the soldiers. In the fierce battle, the students showed the firm will and courage of Lu Xun and his fellow Communists at that time.

Through the youthful vigor and superb performance of the students, Lu Xun's drama activity came to an end. "Hope is attached to existence. If there is existence, there is hope; if there is hope, there is light."-Lu Xun
