Grade 11: Introduction to A New Club "The Mailbox"

April 14, 2021

In the first week of April, the juniors set off on a journey to Chongming for Global Citizen Day. In the second week, they gathered in the Xianmian Annex Auditorium for the much-anticipated awards announcement. Excited chatters and whoops of joy filled the hall when the comprehensive prize and awards for the microfilms were presented. Each class monitor took back a stack of certificates and awards to celebrate his or her homeroom’s triumphs and accomplishments. The unique experiences and memories of tight bonds formed through the mini-games will last far beyond high school.

In the following minutes, Edward from 11(1) introduced his club “The Mailbox”, a supportive and safe place for students to share their anxieties and find the help that they need. With guidance from professional psychiatrists, the club aims to offer mental support to stressed students by giving students the opportunity to seek help through sending anonymous emails to specified email address or dropping hand-written notes into the green mailbox in the building. This club creates a safe and trusting space for students to reach out for mental support or let themselves feel free and safe to be vulnerable without facing judgment from their peers.

“The Mailbox” presents the students of SHSID an opportunity to find helpful advice and improve their mental health.
