Grade 7: Fun Dodgeball Competition

April 11, 2021

In April, the campus of SHSID was full of vitality. The blue sky, white clouds, and green grass complemented each other. On Thursday afternoon, the seventh-grade students went to the playground under the leadership of the homeroom teachers and the PE teachers. They all rubbed their hands nervously and were ready for the fierce dodgeball competition!

With a blow of the whistle from the referee, the matches began. The players rushed to the front for the ball. The players who got the balls first used all their might to smash their opponent; some of the weaker players were staring at the opponent’s dodgeball but did not dare to slack off at all. The eliminated players went around the opponent’s back and pinched them from behind, “Come on! Come on!” Loud cheers vibrated on the vast playground. How exciting it was! The scene was enthralling, with different skills performed, like catching the ball, double kill, decisive strike, and so on.

During the game, there was an intense scene. At that moment, only one player was left on one of the teams, while there were several opponents on the other team. The lone player was calm and alert, watching the adversary’s ball, dodging left and right, nimbly avoiding the ball thrown by each opponent. Then, a ball flew high straight at him. Calmly, he caught the ball as the crowd cheered wildly. Simultaneously, with the cooperation of several eliminated players, he finally defeated his adversary.

The most exciting scene was the “competition between teachers and students.”On the left side of the field stood 24 students, who were elites selected from 12 classes; on the right side were about a dozen teachers, whose eyes were full of confidence, including foreign teachers. At first, the students were quite strong, directly knocking down several teachers in the front. But some foreign teachers threw very accurately, almost hitting one student per ball. The two teams took turns taking the lead, and the score was nerve-racking and exciting. The orange balls were flying in the air while applause and cheers echoed. Finally, the teachers won the match!

After an exciting competition, the victor was finally decided. The winning class cheered. The losing class, though disappointed, enjoyed the game and learned the value of teamwork.

This dodgeball competition impressed greatly on the students. Dodgeball not only exercises the physical strength, endurance, and agility of the body but also encourages teamwork and cooperation. After this activity, students will be more united and future challenges together.
