Grade 10: Preparation for SHSID's Club Showcase

April 5, 2021

At the end of March, all club leaders were called for a meeting to discuss topics surrounding future activities of their clubs and the school’s upcoming Club Showcase event. For the first half of the meeting, they focused on the upcoming Club Showcase, which is an annual platform hosted by SHSID for various clubs across different areas to demonstrate their progress and results over the past year. Ms. Liu explained certain requirements and recommendations for the forthcoming Club Showcase that sparked some general discussion and planning among club leaders.

Then, during the second half of the meeting, Ms. Liu and Principal Liu introduced an excellent club leader (L2D leader) to share her experiences on managing a wide-scale hundred-person club. In her presentation, she shared L2D’s process of growth from a minor and not-so-well-known club to now, one of the most popular clubs on campus with a strict policy for membership. She also shared how her team managed negotiations and contracts with partners such as Taco Bell, Lancôme, and other well-known international brands. Last but not least, during the Q&A session, the L2D leader also shared her experience from balancing schoolwork along with club contribution, and how to manage such a huge team. Her words truly inspired all club leaders present at the meeting and encouraged them to build their clubs on a wider scale, recruit more members, and make a more meaningful impact. Overall, the meeting provided students with more detailed insights to club management and gave them distinct goals to work towards for the Club Showcase.
