Grade 12: Senior Assembly - Junior Project

October 10, 2019

On the Friday morning of September 27th, the Excellent Group presented their Junior Project to the 12th grade in the XMT Annex. Through the Junior Project, the team sought invaluable experiences in various ways while creating a model that would prevent pedestrians from jaywalking—an illegal act that arouses problems directly related to people’s lives. While creating the model, they acquired a broader perspective and knowledge regarding the subjects they respectively delved into. Secondly, it was a great experience to think about and discuss some important social issues with peers as they came up with many before settling on jaywalking as a specific topic.

As the group researched previous cases in which students’ social projects actually contributed to the community, they learned that it's very significant for them to be aware of ways that they could contribute to addressing the problems and to bring about improvement. Moreover, after doing field research, they found out that ideas like this project can actually be implemented in communities, and that it would be crucial to use the school knowledge and develop it so that the knowledge can contribute to society in more practical ways.
